While designing and building my own camper van, I was commissioned by Escape campers to design the cabinetry for two of their newest vans, a Mercedes Sprinter and a VW Crafter. With a good idea of the layout they wanted, my main task was to model all panels so that they could be CNC machined, and design each subsystem so that they could be assembled easily and quickly. I was also tasked with creating some marketing content, animations of the model’s function and assembly order.
The first model was for Rubi, a 2020 VW Crafter. I was tasked with designing the panel work for a kitchen unit, a larder unit, an overhead storage unit, a shower enclosure, a bed and a bed footer.
The second model was for Pier, a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter. The goal was to model the cabinetry such that it could be machined and assembled with ease. I was tasked with modelling a kitchen unit, a shower enclosure and a set of overhead storage units.
